Phonenix Sports V Tonbridge Angles U18's Central Kent League

13th November 2011 saw Phoenix Sports travel to Tonbridge Angels for the return trip after being defeated 4-0 at home the week before.

It was clear from the start that a confident Tonbridge where out to dominate the game with their close passing football style and were not going to give Phoenix any time on the ball. In the 18th minute Tonbridge floated a ball over the Phoenix defence for the ball to fall just behind the striker who adjusted his body and volleyed the ball home for an outstanding strike and go 1-0 up.

In the 21st minute Phoenix were unable to clear the ball from their defence whereupon a Tonbridge player picked up the ball took it around 3 defenders to neatly cut it back to a teammate who struck it in the bottom left hand corner.

In the 42nd minuteTonbridge crossed the ball in and again placed in the back of the net and sitting comortable at 3-0. In the 46th Dan came off infured for Callum to take his place in the centre - half time.

In the second half Phoenix started to take control of the game, gaining a bit of possession and trying to pass the ball around. However the continued chasing down of the ball by Tonbridge left Phoenix often having to pass back to their keeper and offering little outlet to the lone striker.

The second half was spolied by an over zealous referree who issued many yellow cards and stopped play for extended periods. In the 66th Tonbridge crossed the ball in from a corner where Tonbridge took advantage of a free header to score their fourth.

73rd minute Taylor came on for Joe. Phoenix had a couple of good chances but could not appear to maintain any kind of sustained attack.

The referree continued to be the star of the show and delayed the game even further as the game bagan to deteriorate, a free kick awarded in the 86th minute and Tonbridge collected the 5th goal of the game.

Phoenix Sports V Bridon Ropes Under 18's

30th October 2011 Phoenix Sports Under 18's travelled to Copers Cope Ground in South London to play Bridon Ropes in the Kent Youth Central League.

Phoenix Sports started the game the brightest with a shot on goal in the 7th minute that was saved this was followed by a head on goal in the 8th minute that was also saved. In the 9th minute Phoenxi put a cross in with a shot on goal and Phoenix were 1-0 up thanks to the early pressure.

Bridon Ropes attacked back with the Phoenix keeper pulling off a superb finger tip save to push the ball onto the cross bar. Bridon had a further shot that hit the side netting and finally in the 50th minute of the first half levelled the game.

In the second half good quality football continued by both sides, in the 17th min the Phoenix keeper made a superb save which lead to a goal mouth scramble with the ball back in and Bridon scoring to go 2-1 up.

In the 68th George went on an excellent solo run, took on players in the box and set the ball back with the Bridon keeper pulling off a good save from close range, the ball fell to Sean to score and bring the game back level at 2-2.

The game continued in a competitive mode and thanks to the referree was free from any problems. In the 81st minute the Phoenix keeper pulled off another finger tip save to knock the ball onto the crossbar only for it to fall directly to a Bridon player for a free head on goal.

The game finsished Bridon Ropes 3 - 2 Phoenix Sports.

Eltham Town v Beckenham Town Under 15's

Eltham Town FC Under 15's played against Beckenham Town in the Bexley League on 30th October 2011.

When the ref decided to turn up about 20 minutes late, the match kicked off at Eltham's home ground. Beckenham Town entered this game undefeated in the league, but Eltham took the lead and looked promising on the ball. Beckenham pulled a goal back for Eltham to score again going into half time 2-1 up.

In the second half Beckenham came out the stronger to pull it back to 2-2 and all to play for, however Eltham showed true spirit and went onto score a further 3 goals to finish the game 5-2.

The three points gave Eltham a much needed boost and keeps them close to Hayden Youth currently a place above them.

Kent Youth League U18's Central - Summary

After only 2 league games early predictions are difficult, the Under 18's central league looks however that it will be evenly matched with Bridon Ropes the only team not to have dropped any points.

Fisher Athletic and Phoenix Sports have yet to secure any points but early days....

Phoenix Sports Club Under 18's - Kent League Central

11th September 2011, Phoenix Under 18's travelled for an away fixture against Tunbridge Wells.

From the beginning Phoenix were under pressure with Tunbridge Wells firing off long range shots. Phoenix had a penalty appeal turned down but after 20 minutes Tunbridge Wells capitalised on their attacking pressure and scored the opening goal.

Half time and Phoenix made one change with Dan coming on for Toyeeb on the wing. Tunbridge continued the game as they left off and were rewarded in the 60th minute with their second goal this was closing followed by another goal in the 65th and Tunbridge in control of the game at 3-0

Tom for Phoenix struck the upright in the 75th with a superb strike which was the only highlight for Phoenix on pitch. Phoenix Sports carried on trying to play a pssing style, an 85th minute substitution for Phoenix but the game was already won and Tunbridge Wells finished the game 3-0.

The Phoenix keeper has to be mentioned for pulling off some excellent saves to keep the score at least respectable for Phoenix Sports.

Thamesmead Town FC Under 15 - Challenge Cup Winners

Thamesmead Town Under 15's brought home the silverware with a cup final decided on penalties against fellow North Kent League members Bromley FC.

At full time the game sat at 1-1 going into extra time where it finished at 2-2 leading onto the dreaded penalties.

Thamesmead finally won 5-4 on penalties, a good show by Bromley FC who on their way to the final had knocked out Bridon Ropes (London Cup winners) and controversially Dartford FC (Kent League Cup winners).

London Cup Under 15's

Congratulations to Bridon Ropes U15's for winning the London Cup final against Long lane Junior a convincing 7 - 0.

Bridon Ropes were one of only a few Kent League sides who entered the competition this season. Long Lane has a good reputation for producing quality sides, with this side currently 3rd in the Selkent League.

Crook Log FC v Beckenham Park Rovers

Weekend of the 25th April 2010 saw Crook Log venture over to Catford South London for the away fixture against Beckenham Park Rovers.

With Crook Log holding onto 2nd place and Beckenham Park failing to pick up a point so far this season the game should be a formality, but the game still has to be won and as Crook Log discovered against Gravesend Spartans nothing can be taken for granted.

True to form with games like this for the first 10 - 15 minutes the game was held at 0 - 0, however Crook Log continued to use the width of the pitch and deliver the ball into the box which Crook Log put away, this was closely followed by two individual efforts along with a goal keepers parry that put Crook Log at a comfortable 4 - 0 lead at half time.

In the second half Crook Log's Manager wanted Crook Log to continue with the attacking football, which amongst some wild shots also saw a couple of outsanding strikes from Crook Log leaving the game 7-0.

A good game was had by the referree and full credit to Beckenham Park who maintained their composure, lesser teams would have resorted to other tactics given the scoreline.

This result keeps Crook Log FC in 2nd place in the Bexley B League but with top of the League Lessa Albion beating Gravesend Spartans 5-0 and 3rd place Sutton Dynamo beating Wickham Park 6-1, both of these teams are better placed than Crook Log who can only continue to win their games and hope the others slip up.

Crook Log U15's v FC Sutton Dynamo

Weekend of the 28th March 2010 saw another top of the table clash between Crook Log boys and FC Sutton Dynamo who are both in contention for the Bexley B League this season.

Both teams went into the game with confidence with Crook Log on a 9 game unbeaten run and beating top of the league Lessa Albion the week before. FC Sutton Dynamo having only 2 defeats this season and the advantage of beating Crook Log back in October 3-2.

This fixture saw a different side in Crook Log who after a short period were running 2 -0 up, FC Sutton Dynamo managed to get a goal back with a long range effort but for large parts of play were kept in their own half. At half time Crrok Log were 4 - 1 up.

The second half kicked off but Crook Log were lacking something but still good enough to keep the score at 4-1 at the final whistle.

This result keeps Crook Log 2nd in the League and still able to challenge for the League. also FC Sutton Dynamo are still contenders and equal with Crook Log & Lessa on three defeats this Season.

Thamead Town Under 11's

Thamesmead Town Under 11's played Blackheath Wanderers on the 7th March 2010. Thamesmead having already beaten Blackheath in the away fixture started brightly and dominated the majority of play.

Thamesmead gave away a penalty which Blackheath slotted away into the corner. All was not lost for Thamesmead who continued to keep possession, however with the second shot on goal Blackheath went in at half time 2-0 up.

Second half, Thamesmead continued to try and play but with Thamesmead not threatening goal, Blackheath got stronger as the game continued with the game finishing 4-1.

Thamesmead Town are now only a point above the relegation zone and have played an extra game than Dartford Town just below them. The 3 points pushed Blackheath up to 6th place in the Bexley A League, this was a game that Thamesmead needed to win.

Crook Log U15's v Gravesend Spartans

Crook Log FC entertained Gravesend Spartans on weekend of the 7th March 2010. Gravesend managed to put 4 goals past Crook Log who have the best defensive record in the Bexley B League taking them up to 19 goals conceded with the closest being top of the league Lessa Albion with 29 goals against.

Despite this Gravesend Spartans are currently sitting 8th in the League and probably deserve to be higher. The game finished 6-4 giving Crook Log 3 points to remain second in the League.

Thamesmead Under 15's League Cup Semi Final

Thamesmead Town FC Under 11's entertained Ebbsfleet United for the return fixture at Avery Hill.

The game promised to be a good one with the away fixture a close 1-0 win to Ebbsfleet.

On a cold day mixed with a sloping pitch, heavy rain, hailstones both teams did well to play the game. Whilst Thamesmead battled in places and competed, Ebbsfleet were the better side on the day and won the game 4-1.

This result leaves Thamesmead 3rd from bottom in the Bexley A League and Ebbsfleet still sitting at top of the league.

Crook Log FC do the double over Hayden Youth

The last weekend of January 2010 saw Thamesmead Town FC extend their undefeated run of 10 wins from 10 games with a 8-0 win over Cray Wanderers.

Early favourites for the league Bridon Ropes slipped up with a 2-2 draw against Sevenoaks Town.

Challengers to the League Glebe FC had their match against Bromley FC called off.

Cray Valley beat Tonbridge Angels 7-0 to put them 3rd in the League.

Crook Log FC U15 v Danson Sports

Sunday the 31st January 2010 saw the return fixture between Crook Log FC and Danson Sports at Park View Road, Welling.

The first fixture back in September saw Danson Sports come away with all 3 points with a 3-2 win.

On a thawed out pitch that had been churned up by the previous match the game went ahead. With a combination of the mud, the ball flying out into the main road and everybodys opinion on how to run the line the game was fairly competed. Despite the conditions there were glimpses of passing football from Crook Log FC but mainly both teams had to play the long chasing passes.

Crook Log won the game on the day, Crook Log's 3rd goal was contentious but given by Danson's appointed referee and linsesman. The game ended Crook Log 4 - 2 Danson Sports, this puts Crook Log into 2nd place in the Bexley B League, 1 point ahead of Danson Sports.

Elsewhere in the League Lessa Albion kept their grip on top place with a 5-4 win over Hayden Youth. Longwood beat Beckenham Park Rovers 3-1 to keep Beckenham bottom of the league without any points so far this season but have only played 5 games.

On Sunday 31st January 2010 with many games being called off due to frozen ground, the pitch at Perry Street, Crayford was judged as playable.

The last meeting for these two teams was a close affair with Phoenix Sports edging it with a 2-1 win.

Today's meeting was a totally different affair with Phoenix Sports beating St More Juniors 8 - 1

St More Juniors squad are taking turns to tend goal after losing their 2nd goalie of the season, so well done to St More's stand in keeper for the day. Phoenix Sports outplayed St More's and only through a superb individual effort did St More's grab a goal back.

St More Juniors played Junior Reds at Cleeve Park School in the SelKent B League East.

St More Juniors were winning this game 2 -1 only for St Mores to throw it away with the final score ending up 4 - 2 to Junior Reds.

St More's have stepped up a league this season but need to grind out a few results to keep the season alive. They are currently 7th in the Selkent League with some tough fixtures ahead.

Crook Log v Bridon Ropes U15's London Cup

Crook Log FC Under 15's played Bridon Ropes in the second round of the London Cup. Crook Log play in the Bexley B League with Bridon Ropes in the Kent Youth League.

Crook Log gave the Bridon Ropes boys plenty to think about and were not intimidated on the day holding Bridon Ropes goaless after 15 minutes.

Bridon Ropes scored a couple of goals in quick succession but the management were worried enough to argue with the linesman, the referee and approach the Crook Log's technical area.

Bridon Ropes did as expected to win the game and came out winners 9-1, this was no walkover and a well contested game.

VCD Athletic Under 15's lost this weekend to Sevenoaks Town 5 -1, in the Kent Youth League.

After 5 games VCD Athletic have only managed to pick up 1 point and have a goal difference of -14. Whilst it is only early days in the season VCD must be concerned at this poor start to the Season especially after such a good start and potential contenders for the league as Under 14's last year.

There does not seem to be any real reason for this decline in form ?

Thamesmead Town v A Class Under 11's - London Cup

Thamesmead Town FC crashed out of the London Cup against A Class.

Thamesmead Town travelled to Wanstead, East London to take on unknown side A Class in the second round of the London Cup.

Thamesmead took an early lead only for A Class to come back from 2-0 down to win the game 8-2. A Class were the better team on the day.

Crook Log U15's V FC Sutton Dynamo

FC Sutton Dynamo visited Crook Log's home ground on the 4th Oct 2009.

It appeared that a very quiet Crook Log team had turned up for todays fixture, however a competitive game with Sutton Dynamo playing the better of the football.

However Crook Log gave away two soft goals and Sutton Dynamo came away with all the points with a 3-2 win.

FC Sutton Dynamo are the only team in the Bexley B League not to of dropped any points this season and currently sitting 2nd in the league.

Elsewhere, league leaders Danson Sports FC lost their first game of the season 4 - 5 against Gravesend Spartans.

Wickham Park Colts beat samuel Montagu 6 - 2 leaving Samuel Montagu awaiting their first win.

Longwood beat Dartford YMCA purple 5 - 0 leaving dartford bottom of the league without any points so far.

Northfleet Eagles lost their first game of the season with Lessa Albion beating them 2-1

Thamesmead Town Under 11's - wake up call.

This weekend was a wake up call for Thamesmead Town Under 11's, who are newly promoted into the Bexley A League. With a win and a draw so far Thamesmead welcomed visitors Beckenham Town.

Beckenham Town are a well organised team, whilst they are strong, they continually played passing football throughout the game. Thamesmead never look liked they were going to score and second to the ball.

The work rate needs to be improved if they are going to compete in this League and hopefully will learn from this game.

Beckenham Town deserved the win and beat Thamesmead Town 5 - 0. match report

Beckenham have played a game more than the rest of the teams but currently sitting second to Long Lane Lions.

Dartford Town beat Darenth White 9-0
Dartford FC beat Palce Guard 11-1

This leaves Dartford FC and Dartford Town 1st and 2nd in the SelKent B League East and from these impressive results the teams to beat this season.

After 3 games of the season St More Juniors and Darenth White have not managed to win a game with Palace Guard sitting at the bottom of the league without any points.

Kent Youth League South U15's Roundup 04/10/09

Round up of action for the Under 15's Kent Youth League South weekend of the 04/10/09.

Ashford Borough pulled off the win of the weekend by beating Dartford FC 3-1 and remaining the only undefeated side of the League. Dartford FC are the team to beat this season after cleaning up last season as Under 14's. Dartford have so far managed 1 win 1 draw and 1 loss.

Dover and Margate both won at the weekend to keep themeselves in contention for the league.

Newcomers Norton Sports look like to be the whipping boys this season with their 4th game without any points and conceeded a total 27 goals. This may demonstarte what a good standard the Kent Youth League is.

Ramsgate are also struggling this season who have not managed to pick up any points.

Glebe FC also undefeated, beat Welling United 4-3 to maintain their run. Bridon Ropes beat Corinthian 6-1 to retain 3rd place in the League.

Phoenix Sports pulled off a good result with a 2 - 1 win over VCD Athletic. VCD Athletic have yet to win a game this season with Phoenix Sports now sitting 6th in the League.

Sevenoaks Town continue to impress this season with a 5 - 2 win over Fisher Athletic.

Phoenix Sports have strengthened their squad from last season with Bridon Ropes dropping points already this sesaon needing the win.

Bridon Ropes won this match 5 -1 and bagged the 3 points to keep them in contention and 3rd in the Kent Youth League North.

Crook Log FC v Wickham Park Colts (U15)

Crook Log FC entertained Wickham Park Colts for Crook Log's second league fixture of the season. This game produced more football rather than the route one stuff in their first game against Danson Sports.

Crook Log won the game 4 - 0 to secure 3 points.

Elsewhere Danson Sports beat Fleetdown 5-4 to give them 3 wins out of 3 and currently sit top of the Bexley B league. FC Sutton Dynamo beat Longwood 2-1, Sutton Dynamo are the only other team in the League not to of dropped any points so far this season and will be entertaining Crook Log FC next week.

Lessa Albion also picked up there first win of the season with a 8-0 win over Dartford YMCA Purple who have now conceeded 19 goals.

Thamesmead FC U11 - London Cup First Round

Thamesmead Town FC U11's travelled to Isle of Dogs Millwall Park to play Millwall Albion B in the first round of the London Cup.

Millwall Albion B compete in the Echo Junior Football League along side Millwall Albion A.

Thamesmead Town started off the game at a superb pace, dominating the game keeping the ball in Millwall's half. Against the run of play Millwall broke through with the linesman overuled and scored. Thamesmead's fault as they should of taken the early chances.

Thamesmead responded with a goal to go in at half time at 1-1.

In the second half Thamesmead scored again and Millwall immediately replied with a superb long range shot. Thamesmead scored a further 2 goals, with Millwall being awarded and scoring from a free kick to make it 4-3.

Thamesmead however showed the strength and fitness in the team and went on the seal the win with another 2 goals.

Thamesmead Town 6 - 3 Millwall Albion B

Thamesmead Town FC are through to the 2nd round of the London cup to be played on the 11th Oct and have been drawn away to "A Class"

St More Juniors U13 v Darenth White - SelKent League

Darenth White visited St More Juniors at Erith Rugby Club for their first game of the Season in the SelKent League. Last Season Darenth White beat St More 4-2 and drew 3-3.

St Mores were 1-0 up at half time and reasonably in control, in the second half St More scored again giving themselves a 2-0 lead. Darenth White never gave up and after a goal mouth scramble pulled a goal back and in the game again.

With about 15 minutes to go Darenth White scored and the game finished a 2-2 draw.

This result leaves St More's 6th in the League with 2 draws from 2 matches.

This weekend saw the first round of the London Cup. Crook Log FC Under 15's travelled across the river to play Leyton United. Leyton United compete in the Chesunt Youth Football League.

Crook Log FC won the match with a convincing 5-0 win to see them through to the second round. A good representative of how strong the Bexley League is.

The second round of the London Cup has put Crook Log FC against the winners of Bridon Ropes v Orpington.

Bridon Ropes won this match 21 - 0 ..... Bridon Ropes won the Kent Youth League North Division last Season as U14's, had a good London Cup run and contenders for the League this Season.

This weekend will see the first round of the London Youth Cup. This cup still holds prestige among many clubs in and around London. However many of the top sides in the Kent Youth League are now not entering this competition due to their domestic league and two cup competions proving too much of a committment to maintain the fixtures.

However Bexley, SelKent and Kent Youth League teams have historically done well in this cup.

St More Juniors (U13) v All Stars

St More Juniors Under 13's travelled to All Stars for the opening game of the Season in the Selkent B League East.

St More Juniors are a newly promoted side into this league and after going in 2-0 down at half time doubts were setting in for the boys.

After a rallying half time team talk from the St More's manager for the boys not to be pushed around and belive in their own ability the second half went underway.

The tempo increased in the second half and St Mores pulled back what seemed like a consolation goal. All stars continued to attack but limited to long range efforts which the St More's keeper kept at bay. St Mores grabbed another goal straight from a corner kick and now it was game on.

The game continued at high pace, fairly contested and a fair result at the end of full time to both teams that played well.

The weekend of the 13 Sep 2009 produced after only 2 games of the Season a mixture of results leaving Thamesmead Town FC & Glebe FC the only two clubs who have not dropped any points.

Thamesmead FC beat Cray Valley 2-0 and Glebe FC beat Tonbridge Angels 4-0

Last Season winners Bridon Ropes were held to a 2-2 draw with VCD, with last Season's strugglers Phoenix Sports currently sitting 3rd in the League with a 3-1 win over Bromley.

This could be a closely contested league this year

Thamesmead kicked off the start of the Season on 13th Sep 2009 with an away fixture at Samuel Montagu.

Newly promoted Thamesmead Town to the Bexley A League have a lot to prove to see if they are ready for the A League. Most teams are also on a level playing field with this being the first season at 11-a-side.

With the game drawn at 1-1 Thamesmead turned up a notch and scored a further two goals to win the first game of the season and secure three points.

Crook Log FC throw it away

On the opening game of the Season, Crook Log FC Under 15's welcomed Danson Sports FC to their home ground at Footscray Rugby Club.

In a scrappy first half Crook Log managed to take two goals leaving themselves 2-0 up at half time.

The second half proved no better for the spectators with the long ball game being played by both teams and the ball remaining up in the air. Crook Log appeared to switch off in the second half and Danson Sports took full advantage by grabbing back two goals.

Crook Log had a couple of spells where they tried to pass the ball around and came close to scoring. However Danson Sports scored late in the game to secure themselves a win.

Thamesmead Town played their last game of the 2008/09 Season on 17th May 2009 against Bromley FC. With 2nd place already secured for Thamesmead FC and Bromley at 7th, this game would not change the League.

Thamesmead Town FC struck first and Bromley competed well, unfortunately for Bromley FC their chances were slim when reduced over the course of the game to playing with 9 men due to two individual red cards !!

Thamesmead hit 5 goals to finish the Season on exactly 100 goals in the Kent Youth League, and the best goal difference in the League but 1 point behind the League Leaders.

Thamesmead beat Glebe FC convincingly at their home ground with probably one of the best displays of football beating Glebe FC 7-2 with an outfield player tending goal.....see match report

Thamesmead had already secured 2nd place so had nothing to lose in this match, Thamesmead quickly took control of the game and went 1-0 up and continued their game at an relatively easy pace finally winning the match 6 - 0.

10th May 2009 saw the last games of the season for the Under 10's Bexley B League,

3rd place Kingfisher JFC took on 4th place Hayden Yellow, Kingfisher JFC won this game 4-2.

The other fixture saw 2nd placed Invicta Lons White beat Ebbsfleet United White 3-1.

Thamesmead Town U14's

League chasers Thamesmead Town needed to win all their remaining matches and for Bridon Ropes to slip up against Corinthian to win the league. Bridon Ropes won their match and over the whole season deserve the league title.

Thamesmead Town were the team to beat this Season after winning the 2007/08 league last season on their first season together as a squad. This weekend Thamesmead travelled to Bakers Field to play bottom of the league Crayford Arrows. Thamesmead Town FC put out a squad to win and score goals. Thamesmead Town were playing their usual passing play and comfortable against a competing Crayford Arrows side and at 3-0 up Crayford without any subs were further impeded by being reduced to 10 men !!

Thamesmead Town tried to show discipline in their formation and won the game 12-1 given them the best goal difference so far in the League. Thamesmead have the added luxury of having a full squad which was an advantage over Crayford Arrows.

Crayford Arrows have only secured 2 points this season through 2 draws with 1 game left to play but full credit to all their boys who have continued to play to see the season out even with 10 men.

Kent Youth League U14's North

Weekend of the 10th May 2009 saw Bridon Ropes beat Corinthian 4-1 to secure the league title. Chasing Thamesmead Town beat Crayford Arrows 12-1 to secure 2nd place.

VCD Athletic lost 1-0 to Bromley putting second place out of reach for VCD who despite good early form at the beginning of the Season have failed to win a match in the last four outings. VCD will be competing with Blackheath Wanderers for 3rd place.

Blackheath drew 2 -2 with Fisher Athletic , both of these teams were contenders for a top 3 finish.

Glebe FC beat Phoenix 2-1 and Tonbridge Angles beat Cray Wanderers 4-1.

Bridon Ropes U14's win the league

On Sunday 10th May 2009 Bridon Ropes U 14's secured the points at Corinthian to win the Kent Youth League North Division 2008/09 a superb achievement for this newly created side.

Bridon Ropes beat Corinthian 4-1 to get the 3 points and put the title out of reach of the chasing Thamesmead Town who had to win all their remaining fixtures.

Weekend of the 3rd May 2009 saw Hayden Youth Yellow take on Hayden Youth Black, the Yellows won the match 6 -1 leaving Hayden Black second from bottom of the league at the end of their Season.

Hexley Rangers beat Fleetdown United 5-1 to keep equal points with Hayden Yellow.

Hayden Youth Yellow have one match left to play against 3rd place Kingfisher JFC, whilst the league positions will not be affected this promises to be a good match.

A good season for Kingfisher JFC securing 3rd position for this newly created team.

In the last game of the league St Mores Juniors beat Pettswood Kites 5-4, St More Juniors were 4-0 up at half time and appeared to have the game won. However Pettswood Kites came out at half time and showed St Mores the dangers of not concentrating and took the game to St Mores.

St Mores finished the season in 4th place with 21 points

Phoenix Lions won the League and were without a doubt the best football playing side of the league.

Welling United beat Junior Blues 7-0 in the other fixture of the weekend.

Bridon Ropes last fixture is against a difficult Corinthian side next week.

Second placed Thamesmead Town comfortably beat early league leaders VCD Athletic 3-0 and put behind them a 3-1 defeat earlier in the season.

Thamesmead have 3 games left and need to win all three and Bridon Ropes to lose to Corinthian to win the league.

This weekend Corinthian beat Fisher 3-1 showing that on the day they are a difficult team to beat.

Blackheath Wanderers drew 2-2 with Cray Wanderers to put a dent in their challenge for 3rd place.

Weekend of 26th April 2009 saw another round of football in the kent youth league North Division.

Thamesmead Town FC travelled to Tonbridge Angels and turned out a 4 - 1 win to keep them in 2nd place.

Bridon Ropes played Blackheath Wanderers and by most accounts were unlucky not to win the match. See Bridon Ropes match report here.

VCD Athletic managed a 1-1 draw with mid placed Corinthian and appear to have lost the good form they had at the beginning of the season.

With 3 games left to play the League Title is in the hands of Bridon Ropes but they have to play Fisher and Corinthian to secure those points.

Next week Thamesmead & VCD Athletic play each other which could decide 2nd place or the best contender should Bridon Ropes slip up.

Weekend of the 19th April 2009 saw Invicta Lions White beat Dartford Town 3 -2, Dartford's first loss of the Season. Invicta Lions White are the only team in the Bexley League who have taken points off Dartford so far this Season.

Kingfisher JFC beat Darent River Green 5 - 0 to retain the 3rd spot in the League, Hayden Youth Yellow retained 4th spot on goal difference despite losing 4 - 2 to Hexley Rangers.

2nd from bottom Hayden Youth Black beat Fleetdown United 3 -2, Darent River beat Ebbsfleet 2 -1.

St More Juniors Under 12's

On the 19th April 2009 St More Juniors welcomed All Stars United to their home ground at Erith Rugby Club to compete in the Selkent Green Shield.

All Stars United took the game to St Mores passing the ball around and after an initial battle found the back of the net promptly followed up with another 2 goals leaving St More Juniors 3 - 0 down.

A lot of teams would have given up at this point but St Mores showed true competition and replied with two quick goals going into half time 3-2 down and the match still in sight.

In the second half the game appeared to be more evenly matched, however All Stars got the upper hand and scored to make it 4 - 2. Again St Mores fought back bringing the game back to 4 - 4.

The half seemed to last for ages and the last 10 minutes were frantic but St Mores clinched a final goal ending the game 5 - 4.

On the weekend of the 19th April 2009, Thamesmead Town FC beat visitors Cray Wanderers 3 - 0 to retain 3rd in the League above the improving Blackheath Wanderers who beat Glebe FC 3 - 0.

Elsewhere top of the league Bridon Ropes beat Sevenoaks Town 7 - 2. Fisher Athletic beat Bromley 4 -1 to keep the pressure on Blackheath.

Phoenix Sports beat bottom of the league Crayford Arrows 4 -2 leaving Phoenix Sports on even points with Cray Wanderers.

Under 14's Readers & Phillips Challenge Cup

Dartford FC and VCD Athletic met on the 15th March 2009 in the final of the Under 14's Readers & Phillps Challenge cup.

VCD Athletic are currently undefeated and residing top of the Kent Youth League North Division, Dartford FC are mid table in the South League but have only played 7 matches compared to the rest of the league who have played twice as many. Dartford FC had the advantage of already winning the London Youth Cup this season and knocking VCD Athletic out of the kent County Cup in the third round 6 - 0.

Top of the League VCD Athletic were playing Dartford FC in the Readers & Phillips Challenge Cup Final this weekend which allowed Thamesmead Town to go top of the League with a 1 - 0 win over Bridon Ropes. However VCD & Bridon Ropes both have to games in hand over Thamesmead Town in which to claim league leaders. Next weekend they play each other which should be an intersting match.

Elsewhere Glebe FC beat that difficult team Cray Wanderers on their unique pitch 5 - 2 to keep them a respectable 4th in the League. Corinthian beat Bromley FC 1 - 0 and Blackheath Wanderers beat Sevenoaks Town 4 - 3.

Under 14's Kent Youth League North - Thamesmead Town

On the 15th March 2009 Thamesmead Town welcomed Bridon Ropes to Bayliss Avenue for the return fixture. Previously Bridon Ropes had beaten Thamesmead 4 -0, with Bridon Ropes residing 2nd in the League and Thamesmead at 3rd place a lot was riding on this game.

From kick off the match was a strongly contested and competive game. It was also a good natured game with only fouls being called due to the fast pace which was kept in order by the efficient referee. At half time the game was held at 0 - 0.

In the second half Bridon Ropes were punished for a foul on a Thamesmead player with a straight red and the physical side of the game became more apparent but only due to the competitive nature of the players.

Finally Thamesmead broke the stalemate and grabbed the winning goal taking Thamesmead to the top of the league for the first time this season.

8th March 2009 saw the undefeated Dartford Town lose their first points of the season with a 1 - 1 draw against Invicta Lions White.

Hayden Youth Yellow pulled together another win to see them move up to 2nd place with 2 games in hand over 3rd place Kingfisher JFC.

Hexley Rangers put 5 goals past Hayden Youth Black which unfortunately leaves Hayden Black 2nd from bottom and 7 points behind Darent River Black who in turn beat Darent River Green who have still not managed to grab any points this season.

Selkent Under 12's Green Shield

On the 8th March 2009 St More Juniors played their first game of the Selkent Green Shield against Valley Park Kestrels.

St More Juniors have enjoyed a relatively good season so far in the League and were hoping for a good start in the Shield. Valley Park Kestrels had already beaten Darenth River White in this Shield and whilst St More's put up a fight, Valley Park Kestrels came out with a 3 - 0 win.

On 15th February Kingfisher JFC lost 3 - 0 to Fleetdown United Black in the Bexley B League. After previously beating Fleetdown 4 - 2 back in October this was a shock result for Kingfisher seeing Fleetdown also climb above them in the league putting Kingfisher down to 4th place.

Hayden Youth Black made up their second win of the Season with a 2 -1 win against Ebbsfleet White but they are still residing 2nd from bottom and in the relegation zone.

Sunday 15th February 2009 finally saw a full compliment of fixtures in the North Division.

Thamesmead Town welcomed Phoenix Sports at Bayliss Avenue for the return fixture. Thamesmead previously beat Phoenix Sports 6 - 1 back in September 2008 but were held back to a narrow 1 - 0 win by a determined Phoenix side who defended and battled for every ball. Thamesmead never stopped trying to play football the way it is intended but could not increase the scoreline see full match report. The 3 points puts Thamesmead in 3rd place in the league but 5 points behind 2nd placed Bridon Ropes.

League leaders VCD Athletic were held to a 1 - 1 draw by Corinthians. VCD Athletic are still undefeated this season but allowed 2nd placed Bridon Ropes who beat Glebe FC 8 - 1 to catch up on some points.

On Sunday 15th February, St Mores Juniors travelled for the return away fixture against Junior Blues. Due to the recent poor weather this was only St Mores second game of the new year.

St Mores played against a well organised Junior Blues who defended well, passed the ball around and just need that bit extra up front to give teams trouble. St Mores with several subs along with 4 new signings in the last 2 weeks had the upper hand before the game commenced. St Mores tried to use the complete width of the large pitch to spread the ball around. This paid off for St Mores who won the game 8 - 0. see full match report

League leaders Darenth White did not have a fixture this weekend which saw 2nd place Phoenix Lions take on 3rd place Welling United, which saw Phoenix Lions come out on top 2 -1 to put them on equal points with Darenth White and a game in hand. This result also helped out St More Juniors who stepped up to 3rd place.

Pettswood Kites drew 2 - 2 with Parkwood Cobras which has given Parkwood Cobras a respectable mid league position. In the final game Orpington FC beat Bexleyheath Boys 1 - 0.

London Cup - Under 14's

The 4th round of the London Cup saw Dartford FC beat Millwall Albion 4-0 to book a place in the semi final along with Wingate & Finchley who beat Bridon Ropes 2-1.

Whilst not all teams from the Kent Youth League have entered the London Cup due to the amount of matches to be played, it is good to see the League represented by Dartford FC in the semi final with the other hopeful being Blackheath Wanderers.

Under 14's Kent County Cup

14th December 2008, held 3 fixtures of the 3rd round of the Under 14's Kent County Cup.

Dartford FC convincingly beat VDC Athletic who are currently undefeated in the North Division of the Kent Youth League with a 6-0 win.

Ashford Borough also of the South Division beat Blue Eagles 4-0 and the unknown to the kent Youth League Anchorians beat Dover Athletic 3-2.

Due to a weekend of torrential rain the 14th December 2008 saw only one fixture in the Kent Youth League North Division, this was due to the third generation pitch used by Glebe FC.

A superb surface to play football on saw a shock result of Glebe FC 3 - 5 Tonbridge Angels. This is Tonbridge Angels only 2nd win of the season and for a Glebe side that has consistently achieved over the years a tough season ahead of them.

VCD Athletic retain top of the league position and the only team not to of dropped any points so far.

Selkent C League - Under 12's

14th December 2008 St More Juniors welcomed Orpington FC to the Erith Rugby Club for the return fixture. St Mores previously beat Orpington 3-0 in the opening day fixture, however Orpington had obviously been working hard on their game and were holding their own at 0-0 a good way into the first half. The goals did start to fall in place for St More Juniors with the final score ending up as St More Juniors 7 - 1 Orpington FC.

The only other fixture of the weekend was top of the league Darenth White taking on Phoenix Lions. Phoenix Lions claimed the points on the day with a 3-1 win taking them to 3rd in the League with games in hand over the teams above.

Phoenix Lions have only lost one game so far this season and have beaten both teams above them and must be firm favourites to win the League

Kingfisher JFC Under 10's - Bexley League

Kingfisher JFC Under 10's travelled away on the weekend of the 7th December 2008 to play top of the league Dartford Town.

In a close match Kingfisher JFC outplayed Dartford Town but did not manage to convert this into goals.

Dartford Town have claimed full points out of eight games, the only team not to of dropped any points and must be favourites to win the league this early in the season. Kingfisher JFC hold onto 2nd position, a point above Invicta Lions White who have a game in hand.

Thamesmead Town Under 14's

7th December 2008 Thamesmead Town welcomed Corintians to Bayliss Avenue. Thamesmead Town entered this game going 7 games undefeated and Corinthians sitting mid-table. The pitch whilst playable was never going to be conducive to a flowing game of football, with a few challenges and mistakes to be expected.

Thamesmead took the lead in the first half and generally dominated play only for one of the Thamesmead players to slip onto the ball after a challenge in the box, judging to of handled it the ref awarded a penalty. The ref then promptly issued the player with a yellow card - a bit harsh given the conditions.

The ref having already issued a further yellow card managed to keep himself centre of attention, in the second half both teams were unsettled by the interrupted play whereupon the ref issued a straight red to a Thamesmead player for something said on the pitch ???

Down to 10 men and most of the second half left to play this was a game for Corinthians to take, but Thamesmead Town showed character and took the lead 2 - 1. Corinthians managed to equalise only for Thamesmead to press on and nearly take all the points but could not finish on the day.

This game left Thamesmead 2nd and Corinthians 8th in the League

To the ref's mum can he have a new whistle for Christmas as he wore his one out !!

Kingfisher JFC Under 10's

Kingfisher JFC Under 10's entertained Darent River Green at home on the 30th November 2008 and turned out a magnificent 15 - 0 win to take them back up to 2nd in the League just one point above Invicta Lions White who unfortunately had their game postponed.

The only other fixture of the weekend in the Bexley B League East saw Hexley Rangers take the points with a 6 -2 win against Ebbsfleet United White.

Dartford Town are 7 points clear at top of the league who play Kingfisher JFC next week. Dartford & Kingfisher have already met this season in the cup with Dartford coming out on top 4 - 3, so this has all the makings of a good game to watch.

U10's Bexley B League East

On the 16th November 2008 Kingfisher JFC played Hayden Youth Yellow which ended up in a 1-1 draw. Dartford Town continued their domination of this League with a 2-1 win against Hexley Rangers giving them 7 strainght wins out of 7 fixtures.

In the other fixtures Invicta Lions White beat Hayden Youth Black 2-0 with Ebbsfleet United White beating Darent River Black 1-0.

U12's Selkent League East

St More Juniors travelled to Russell Park on the 16th November 2008 for the away fixture against Bexleyheath Boys. In their last meeting Bexleyheath Boys held St Mores to a 3 - 3 draw. This fixture saw St Mores come out on top with 5 - 3 win.

As this was the only league fixture of the weekend with the other teams competing in the League Cup, St Mores reclaimed the No.1 league spot from Darenth White who now have a game in hand. Darenth White face bottom of the league Valley Park Eagles in their next fixture.

Sunday 16th November 2008 saw the remainder of the Round 2 Readers & Phillips Challenge Cup matches played. Ashford Borough beat Phoenix Sports 3 - 0. Folkstone Invicta beat Bromley FC 6 -3. VCD Athletic beat Cray Wanderers 3 -1 and Sevenoaks Town who have not recorded a win yet in the North Division beating Margate 2-1.

Sunday the 16th November 2008 saw Thamesmead Town FC record their biggest win of the Season against visitors Tonbridge Angels. Thamesmead put away 9 goals and if it were not for a superb freekick from just outside the box by Tonbridge Angels, Thamesmead would of kept a clean sheet.

This was the only league game of the weekend pushing Thamesmead up to 5th in the league with Tonbridge without a win in 7 games, 1 place above bottom.

Sunday the 9th November 2008 saw the second round of the Under 14's Kent County Cup.

Casualties from the Kent Youth League were Phoenix Sports losing 3-2 to Coxheath & Farleigh along with Ebbsfleet losing 5 -2 to Anchorians.

Elsewhere Kent Youth Teams came out ahead, the biggest win came from second from bottom of the South League - Ramsgate beating Hawkinge Youth 10 - 0. The highest scoring game was Dover Athletic 8 - 4 Gravesham Town.

Thamesmead Town v Herne Bay FC U14

Herne Bay FC travelled to Thamesmead Town FC to play the 2nd round of the Under 14's Kent County Cup. Herne bay play in the Molten East Kent Youth League Div 1 and it was clear they intended to give Thamesmead Town a game of football and for the first 10 minutes the game was held with no score.

Thamesmead were patient for the first 10 minutes soaking up the pressure then started to release some penetrating passess and runs, whereupon goals were quick to follow. The game finished up Thamesmead Town 8 - 0 Herne Bay FC.

Herne Bay continued to try and play football throughout the game, putting together passes. They avoided resulting to the long ball or physical game and are a credit to their league.

St More Juniors v Darenth White U12's

St More Juniors undeafted run in the Selkent C League East finally came to an end on the 9th November 2008. St Mores entertained Darenth White at home in a top of the table clash which promised to be an entertaining game of football.

Unfortunately the conditions were not up to it. A strong wind stopped any chance of a decent game, at the end of the first half St Mores found themeselves 3 - 0 down. With the wind with them in the second half St Mores scored 2 goals in quick succession and threatened to increase this. However Darenth White hit back to make the score 4 - 2 which proved too much for St Mores and that is how the score ended.

Darenth White are now top of the league with St Mores sitting second.

Thamesmead v Real 60 U14's Challenge Cup - Round 2

On the 2nd November 2008 Thamesmead Town welcomed Real 60 U14's to Bayliss Avenue for the second round of the Readers & Phillips Challenge Cup.

Real 60 are currently top of the Kent Youth League South division with six wins out of six matches. Thamesmead Town are currently struggling with their own league form residing seventh in the Kent Youth League North Division.

Thamesmead came out quickly stringing passes together and putting the goals away, with the game nearly over Thamesmead were cruising at 6 -1. With the chance to change the team around Thamesmead took their foot off the pressure and invited Real 60 onto them, who took their opportunity and continued to fire in the long ball with the game resulting:-

St More Juniors beat Valley Park Eagles this Sunday 8 - 1 at home to retain top position of the Selkent C League.

Valley Park Eagles turned up to play St More Juniors with 8 players, the players that turned up were all quality footballers and grabbed a goal for their hard work. They never gave up and made St More Juniors work for the win.

Kent Youth League Under 14's North Division

This weekend in the Under 14's Kent Youth League saw only three fixtures with VCD Athletic beating Bromley FC to take them to 4 wins from 4 games and keep the pressure on Bridon Ropes currently sitting at the top of the League on goal difference.

Fisher Athletic beat Tonbridge Angels 5-3 putting them 3rd in the League and Glebe FC beat Corinthians 4-1.

Thamesmead U14's - Challenge Cup

Thamesmead Town Under 14's travelled to Sittingborne on the Sunday 19th October only to be sent to the wrong ground and had to travel to another ground to play Chatham Town in the Under 14's Readers & Phillips Challenge Cup.

Chatham Town currently bottom of the Kent Youth League South division with no wins held Thamesmead to a 2-2 draw taking the game to penalties. Thamesmead had to use outfield players to cover goal due to the keeper being out. What was described by spectators as the worst display of football ever finally saw Thamesmead go through 5-4 on penalties.

Thamesmead FC will be facing top of the League South - Real 60 in the next round who have won 5 out of 5 games in their league.
